Amanda + Gabe (A+G) met in the summer of 2001. They had eye contact for a split second at Amanda’s insurance agent’s office a few towns over from where they both lived. In just passing, they both felt familiarity. Their only interaction was the quick glance, and then went their separate ways.
Gabe seemed like someone Amanda had met before, so she asked her agent who he was. It turned out they’d never met or seen each other before. At some point while he was there, Gabe had also asked the same about Amanda for the same reason.
That summer, Gabe was remodeling his house. Amanda had been working at a popular espresso bar for several years, knowing pretty much everyone that came in. A contractor wanted to meet up with Gabe. It ended up being at Amanda’s work. A+G instantly recognized each other from their only encounter the week before.
After a handful of 1-2 minute long chats in-between other customers over the next couple days, it was clear they’d met their match. They’d had so many missed connections & similarities over the past few years till their chance meeting aligned. Amanda was quickly sold on Gabe’s wit, intelligence, and confidence. They were both smart-alec, genuine, and caring with a huge love for their families/friends and random split-second adventures. By the second week of dating, they both knew they wanted to make it permanent.
A+G dated for 3 years almost to the day when randomly on a Harley ride, Gabe turned around to Amanda & said, “We should just get married!” That was all it took, and they threw the paperwork together lightning quick for their marriage license, getting it into the county clerk Friday evening right at closing. They were secretly married first thing Monday morning 9-20-04, and were on their honeymoon by the time their friends correctly suspected they’d eloped!
The Tacker’s friends still anticipated an exciting and elaborate event. Amanda knew instantly the gown was perfect. Weeks turned to months, and quickly, then years, as the A+G continued their nonstop adventures. Through the years, multiple pregnancies, and travels, Amanda protected its secrecy from Gabe! Wenatchee (wooded high-desert area of Northcentral Washington) is a place very familiar with forest fires and evacuation. Their family was evacuated on A+G’s 8th anniversary.
Hidden from Gabe all these years, Amanda’s gown was one of the few things she instinctively grabbed, after already protecting it for the last 8 years. Ten years and some babies later, Amanda was finally able to wear her gown for her husband. Upon his first look, “Holy S…” were his first words. The gown was worth the wait.
Their beautiful wedding anniversary took place in Key West Florida. We were absolutely excited to come down and visit them for their private wedding and to hear their beautiful story! Thankfully the Key West Weather held up long enough for the wedding renewal ceremony to take place, and got in a few dances before the rain came around.
